Shelter Services

The Washington County Humane Society:
Provides temporary care for stray, abandoned, and unwanted animals.
Provides information regarding lost and found animals. Reunites lost pets with their owners.
Places many stray and unwanted animals into new homes through our adoption program.
Continually promotes spay/neuter programs to combat the problem of unwanted animals.
When necessary, will administer humane euthansia to animals not claimed or unadopted.
Publishes a quarterly newsletter to keep the community informed of shelter activities and animal welfare.
Offers advice and informatin, free of charge, answering hundreds of weekly telephone inquires.
Assists local law enforcement with the investigation of cruelty, neglect and abuse cases.
Offers a pet therapy program providing animal visits to area health care facilities.
Provides stray dog pickup and responds to injured animal emergencies 24 hours a day.
Provides traps for humane animal trapping.
Offers special animal adoption programs.
